To dress-up or not to dress-up? That is the question many parents are pondering when it comes to their newborns this Halloween. Now, although there are definitely plenty of adorable outfits available for infants, many moms don’t wish to spend the extra money on an outfit that will be worn for just a couple of hours.

Luckily there are plenty of options that can easily be worn year-round and offer a cute “dress-up” aspect to them!Take Baby Aspen’s “Big Dreamzzz’ Collection. Their two and three-piece layette sets consisting of a 0-6 month sleeper, hat and booties are 100% cotton and come in the most adorable options – ones you wouldn’t have even thought of. Even the packaging has a real tongue-in-cheek aspect that makes these ideal for gifting.

Packaged in a”first aid” box, the Baby MD comes complete with adorable hospital bootie replicas and a toasty-warm surgical cap. This set is completely gender-neutral and perfect for your mini McDreamy!

New little princesses and tiny dancers can now wear their own tutu and tights, thanks to this two-piece set. Yes, the tutu and tights are actually part of the entire outfit! Talk about the perfect photo opp….

Speaking of photo opps, be sure to check out the rest of their sleep sets. Get a giggle from dressing your baby as a pilot, chef, baseball player,  or golfer.

If you are looking for something a little more luxe, Oeuf has lots of options that are undeniably drool-worthy. In addition to their beautiful furniture, this company makes the most delightful clothing and accessories for babies and kids. Their knits are all fair trade and made in Bolivia of luxurious baby alpaca wool – an incredibly soft material that is both hypoallergenic and eco-friendly making it an excellent choice for tender skin.

Oeuf’s baby line can easily be mixed and matched to create individual looks. The Lucien Pants paired with the Lightning Sweater (above), Bat Hat and Guitar is a great choice for mini rock stars!

Also, remember the crown Max wore in Maurice Sendak’s book “Where The Wild Things Are?” Oeuf was inspired by the book/film and designed their own Wild Things Crown ($36) for Fall 2011. When paired with a one-piece will provide a very close resemblance to Max’s outfit.

Oeuf really excels in accessories and offers a huge assortment of hats and mitts that can be used to create different looks.

Nadia’s Tips For Dressing Your Baby For Halloween

  • Accessorize. Something as simple as a little mouse hat, coat/cap, Mary Jane socks, even bunny booties like these can transform even a plain sleeper into something special. Less is more, especially when it comes to newborns!
  • Be Practical. Young babies go through diapers and spit up like nobody’s business, so make sure you keep that in mind before dressing up your little one. Although there are some really cute costumes out there, you want to choose something that is easy to remove and isn’t too bulky.
  • Be Mindful of Overdressing. Because newborns have a very limited ability to regulate their own body temperature, you want to be careful about over- or under-dressing.
